The kick-off meeting of SFEDA project took place on 30-31/10/2017. The meeting was organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics (Lead Partner) and was held at the building of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the University of Patras.

Meeting Agenda

The paper "Emerging methods for early detection of forest fires using unmanned aerial vehicles and LoRaWAN sensor networks" was presented during the 28th EAEEIE Annual Conference by MSc. Eng. Jordan Raychev, PhD Student at the Department of Telecommunications at the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" (PP4). The event was conducted in the period between the 26th and 28th September 2018 in Reykjavík, Iceland. The aim of the paper was to present two different approaches for early detection of forest fires. The first of these approaches is based on a system consisting of several UAVs and ground cameras. This system is the THEASIS system, which is the main output of the SFEDA project. The paper also investigates the detection of forest fires using a network of LoRaWAN sensor nodes and gateways. The conference was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Nina Bencheva, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Yoana Ruseva, PhD and Assist. Prof. Diyana Kinaneva, PhD – all members of the SFEDA team for PP4. The SFEDA team members presented five papers during the conference. Supporting materials are attached to the report.
